The Covid Relief Project is helping families in the Cusco region who are out of work due to the Covid-19 global pandemic. 80% of the economy in the Cusco region is dependent on tourism. With borders closed and flights grounded around the world, no tourists are able to come to Peru and the Inca Trail has been closed since January 23, 2020. Porters, cooks, guides and others who work the Inca Trail and at Machu Picchu have lost their income for the 2020 tourist season. Many people work Inca Trail trips back-to-back from May through the end of August. They are dependent on these months for almost all of their yearly income. You can help these families with your donation! 100% of donations and proceeds from the virtual Inca Trail go to buying food, school supplies and emergency aid for families who are out of work due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Covid Relief Project is committed to supporting these families until tourism returns and they can find work again.
