The Covid-19 pandemic has presented many organisations with a challenge: to be resilient. To cope with changes in revenue streams, to adapt operating practices to ensure the organisation and its people are safe and to continue to thrive in uncertain times.
The Giggleswick Global Challenge seeks to help 3 organisations: Settle Swimming Pool, the Cave Rescue Organisation and Giggleswick School.
Settle Swimming Pool is a fantastic resource for the health and wellbeing of the community in the Settle area. Before the pandemic the trustees and management had worked tirelessly to build ongoing revenue streams to support the everyday running of the pool, which is completely self-funded, as well as making plans to redevelop the facility in the future. During much of 2020 the pool has been closed, now reopened on significantly reduced hours the pool is running at a substantial loss. With your help we can reduce this loss to ensure that future plans are not lost and the pool stays open.
The Cave Rescue Organisation are our local Mountain and Cave Rescue service based in Clapham. They are funded entirely from charitable donations. During the pandemic the CRO have been unable to hold their annual fundraising events which are so vital to their operation. This is especially tough for them as they’ve been in demand with 65 incidents so far this year. As with so many organisations the pandemic brings extra demands and requirements in terms of equipment and time – both costly resources. We hope to help with some of these extra expenses.
Giggleswick School has been well prepared and organised to meet the demands of Covid-19. This unprecedented situation, however, brings for all organisations an ever-changing set of needs and demands upon its resources and this is especially so for schools. With your help we’d like to establish a Resilience Fund to assist the School in adapting to this new world. With such backing it will be able to respond immediately to the needs of its pupils and staff.
£1,650 raised since 10 Oct 2020.

Walk along the Ribble to the Knights Table at Little Stainforth for a beautiful roast dinner. Well done everyone as we should be in Fiji very soon. I went there in 1981!
