Walking our Way to Wellbeing with Guideposts Trust.
Welcome to our next Big Mission! Guideposts Global Challenge!
Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to walk, run or cycle a share of the distance and form an important part of an exciting journey of 21,976 miles around the world.
We are on a Mission to raise awareness across the Globe for people living with learning disability, autism, complex needs, dementia and mental health issues.
Of course, we'd love to raise £25,000 to help us to continue our great work in local communities in the UK.
The History of Wellbeing Trailblazers with Guideposts Trust
The 2020 lock down situation placed immense pressure on the vulnerable people with learning disability and autism, complex needs, brain injury and trauma and people living with mental health issues who Guideposts support, causing them to feel more isolated, bored, anxious, worried, and scared.
Guideposts essential services supporting the most vulnerable in our communities were needed more than ever, which is why Guideposts responded rapidly by establishing a completely new way of working, delivering vital support to vulnerable people and their carers during the Covid19 crisis remotely and safely. One of the ways we aimed to achieve better wellbeing for people in our community and our supporters was through this fantastic Virtual Mission Page. Helping our members, staff and supporters to keep active whilst we stayed safe in our homes.
The Walking to Wellbeing with Guideposts Trust Mission page is open for any person or groups to set up their own virtual mission, encouraging better health and wellbeing whilst fundraising for our great charity at the same time.
Mission 1
We began our first Virtual Mission Walking to Wellbeing Visiting English Country Gardens, walking over 3,500 kms on our daily exercise walks and downloading them onto this great platform.
The team of 30 people had a great time discovering beautiful English gardens whilst raising vital funds to help maintain Guideposts vital services in local communities.
This amazing team raised over £1400 towards our Outdoor Wellbeing Hub in Witney, Oxfordshire.
Mission 2
Our second virtual mission saw Sam Flyn wlaking 100 miles over 10 days to help raise funds for Guideposts Information Service, offering free advice and support to help people to better wellbeing. Sam rasied a fantastic £520 on her mission walking from Gloucestershire to Oxfordshire and on to Hertfordshire services!
Guideposts Supporting the Community
We continue to support the health and wellbeing people daily through our new online service: Guideposts Better Connected, offering online activities, social media groups and targeted activity packs: from puzzles to gardening, from exercises to art and creative tasks, there are many ways that we have been reaching out and helping people live as well as possible, preventing breakdown and personal crisis, alleviating pressures on overburdened NHS and social care services.
