This August marks one year since Asian University for Women (AUW) evacuated 148 students and graduates from Kabul to the USA. Since then, the conflict in Afghanistan has pushed the economy to the brink driving countrywide poverty, hunger and need, with personal liberties restricted including girls and women can no longer seek an education.
As an all women's university which fosters inclusivity and a diverse residential learning community, AUW is uniquely positioned to provide opportunities for young Afghan women pursuing higher education.
Thanks to your support, the AUW Afghan Scholarship Fund will enable 600 Afghan women, from across all 34 provinces, to attend AUW. These students will:
- Receive a high quality liberal arts university education (5 year program including preparatory courses & undergraduate degree)
- Study side-by-side with their sisters from 18 other countries, including Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Indonesia, Palestine, Senegal, Syria and Yemen
- Become agents of change as leaders in waiting for the Afghanistan of the future
